Kenya: Returning to peace?
On the heels of recent political unrest, Kenya struggles to maintain its stability while continuing to suffer high crime and poverty rates.
The violent uprisings following the controversial elections in late 2007 left more than 250,000 people internally displaced, with many now unemployed and turning to crime for survival. The ever present shadow of HIV/AIDS only increases the burden of need. Against that background, we are shipping containers to equip educational and medical programmes. The educational programmes offer support for both adults and children, providing training that aims to nurture sustainable solutions through increased self sufficiency in impoverished areas. The medical programmes support health facilities in rural areas and run campaigns to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS.
