Finding ways to start over
Ravaged by 25 years of civil war and economic turmoil, Angola is no stranger to hardship.
Leftover land mines still lie hidden throughout the country, former child soldiers and wives must try to return to normal life, and the government must rebuild its struggling economy and structure. One in three children die before the age of 5 and the overall life expectancy is less than 40 years of age. We are shipping to support programmes that target improved quality of life through water sanitation projects, community health work, and the equipping of local farmers. Many need such aid to get back on their feet and start earning their own incomes to support their families.
